Goodbye Yukon, hello British Columbia
This Tuesday, we left Whitehorse (Yukon) and the beautiful and wonderful Giesbrecht family. We will miss the G team a lot and the moments spent with them will remain forever engraved in our memory. The Yukon was a bigger than life experience.
We arrived Wednesday night in Kitimat (BC) after driving on the Alaska Highway (1), then on the Stewart-Cassiar Highway (37). The scenery was beautiful (see pictures). Our first stop in Kitimat was at the Visitor Center. Despite the fact that the office was about to close, we received a lot of useful information. Then, we stopped at The Chalet Motel. We met Denise, a very nice lady who organized our stay in a very comfortable room with a kitchenette. The next day we met with Kevin from the MK Bay Marina. He offered to store our canoe in a safe and dry place.
People are great and generous towards us. Life is wonderful and we are very grateful.
We will stay in Kitimat for a few weeks and will wait for a good weather window before starting our journey south in the inside passage. In the meantime, we will visit Kitimat and its surroundings. We will keep in touch and post pictures shortly.
